Hillary Clinton's lead in the polls might mean more now that she is also out-fundraising Barack Obama. Obama still leads in overall funds raised for the primary, while Hillary has more stashed away for the general election.
Analysis
At this point, these two leading candidates have enough money. It's reaching the point of diminishing returns. Each candidate can afford all the commercials they need. The 17th time an Iowan sees a commercial is much less effective than the 10th time they saw that commercial and even less than the first time.
Where the money makes a difference is establishing multiple campaign offices in all the major primary states and the battleground states of the general election. Whichever Democratic candidate gets the nomination will already have the infrastructure in place to run a solid general election campaign.
